Equal-I-Zer Weight Distribution Recommendation for Airstream with 525 lb Tongue Weight

Question:

Should I buy a lower capacity Equalizer? I have downsized myAirstream trailer to a 22’ with 5000 lbs. gross trailer weight, 525 lb. hitchweight. I tow with an Lexus GX460 SUV and cargo weight is nominal say 250 lbs.max.  I currently have an Equalizer model90-00-1000, which I understand is suitable for up to 10,000 lbs. trailer weight,1000 lbs. tongue weight and.  Is thereany reason to downgrade to a lower capacity Equalizer, such as the 90-00-669 whichis rated for 6000 lbs. trailer weight and 500 lbs. tongue weight?

If you use a weight distribution system that is rated too high for the tongue weight of the towing setup you will have a really harsh and bumpy ride quality as the spring bars won't give at all basically. So going with the part # EQ37061ET for your tongue weight of 525 lbs would be your most ideal solution as this has a tongue weight range of 200-600 lb.
