Can You Pull the Brake Light Fuse on 2011 Honda CR-V Instead of Using a Brake Light Relay

Question:

I just installed the Hopkins HM56300 Custom Tail Light Kit on my 2011 Honda CR-V. I am using a supplemental braking system RVi3 when towing the Honda. The brake lights on the Honda DO illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed and the engine is OFF like during towing. To prevent interference with the RV trailer wiring, can I simply pull the Honda brake light fuse when I am towing? I prefer to do this instead of installing a brake light relay.

I can't recommend removing any fuses inside the fuse box on a 2011 Honda CR-V aside from the ones that are required for flat-towing per the manual. This could affect other circuits on the vehicle and cause damage. I don't know exactly what that could be but nonetheless we still cannot recommend this. I must instead recommend you use the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles part # RM-88400 which I found to be needed for your 2011 Honda CR-V to ensure proper functionality of your flat-tow components. The relays simply keeps your towed car's brake signal from overriding the turn signal sent by your motorhome.
