Does The Red Indicator LED On Hayes Energize III Activate When The Trailer is Disconnected?
Question:
Should the red light on my Hayes Energizer III light up when I hit my brake even when no trailer is hooked up to the truck? According the the manual, it is operating correctly because the red light only illuminates when I hit the brakes and shuts off when I release the break but I’m wondering if this is supposed to happen even when I am not hauling a trailer. Only inquiring due to having recent brake issues.

Yes, the red indicator light will illuminate on your Hayes-Lemmerz Energize III+ Electric Trailer Brake Controller # HA81742B when either the brake pedal is pressed or when using the manual override. This will happen both when disconnected from a trailer or connected.
