Are Cushions in Convert-A-Ball Cushioned Ball Mounts Rated for the Same Capacity as the Ball Mount
Question:
This ball mount has an extra plate welded to the bottom. This adds to the weight rating I am sure. My question is about the polyurethane cushions. Are they also up rated to handle the extra weight rating?

Expert Reply:
The cushioned ball mount # AMSC2HD is given its rating based on extensive testing and the design of the components. That does include the cushions on the inside of the shank. So in other words if they tested it at 14K and the cushions failed they would not rate it for 14K. The ball mount meets Society of Automotive Engineers J684 specs. The cushion is going to provide more and more resistance the further or harder it is pushed against so it would not collapse or anything like that.
