Video Transcript for Review of Goal Zero Portable Chargers - Nomad 20 Watt Portable Solar Panel - GZ57FR

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this Goal Zero Nomad 20 portable solar panel. Now this portable monocrystalline solar panel is gonna provide up to 20 watts of solar power so that you can charge your small and medium sized devices while you're on the go. It's got a 2.1 amp USB port here that's going to work with your USB devices. We also have an eight millimeter charge cable and that will work with your devices that have that eight millimeter port. So those two options combined are going to allow you to charge up phones, tablets, power banks and small power stations.

There is a integrated dock here for a Goal Zero Flip power bank that is sold separately but if you already have one, you can very easily plug that in so that you have a little power bank taking advantage of the solar power that this is gonna provide for you. We also have an eight millimeter port here and that's going to allow you to connect multiple Nomad panels together up to 150 watts. So it'll work with your Nomad 20s or larger so whichever panels that you have if they've got that eight millimeter port. This also has the cable charger here. The eight millimeter cable is just shy of six feet long.

So if you are pairing lots of these together that give you six feet distance so that you can have plenty of room to get them connected and you'll just plug that in from one panel to the other. If you connect more than four panels together, you may notice that there's a voltage loss due to the distance of the cable and power has to travel through. So make sure that you're getting the most out of your system without losing that voltage if you're connecting more than four panels. This does have the flexible tri-fold design that's going to fold in both directions. Allow you to find the right angle to get the most sun rays and it will also, of course allow you to fold it closed for easy storage.

It's got this built-in kickstand that is going to support the panel in multiple angles so you can get it to face the sun properly. And then when you're ready to store it away, this clicks into place down there. When we have this unfolded, it's about 11 3/4" tall at our highest point here. Our width, again to our widest points it's about 22" wide. And then including the base here, it's about 3/4" thick.

We have it folded up. The height stays the same, 11 3/4" tall. The width is obviously going to go down considerably. It's only about 7 1/4" wide. And then our width or thickness is about 1 1/4" so it's gonna be very compact to store in your backpack or other small space. It does also have these attachment points here at the corners that are going to allow you to strap this to your backpack if you want to charge while you're taking a hike or something along those lines, you can have it on your backpack taking advantage of the sun's rays. And this only weighs about just a little over two pounds. So it's very lightweight, very easy to take along with you so you have a a power source to slowly charge up your devices while you're out there on the go. So that completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.

Assembly was very quick and easy. No tools needed.

This trailer is surprisingly light and I couldn't even notice I was pulling it (empty).

The only potential flaw I noticed so far is the trailer (when empty) does tip over when you attempt to lay ur bike down. There is a plastic jobber that should bend to allow it to handle that...
Perhaps it was not broken in yet or it just needs more weight in the trailer. None the less, you should get a kickstand if you do not have one already and plan on using this trailer.
