Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in the jack storage compartment of your cargo area.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plug on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Today we're going to review part number C55560. This is the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness with the four-way flat trailer connector. This is a custom fit part, it is designed to fit the 2005 to 2006 Chevrolet Equinox and Pontiac Torrent. Now on a custom fit part, what I always recommend for you to do is to go to our website, use our fit guide, put your year and model vehicle in there, and it'll show you if this will work for your application. Now this part provides this four way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailers signal lights. This does connect very quickly and easily, there's no cutting or splicing wires. Basically all you have to do is locate your connection point in your rear cargo area, plug this into the connector back there, have your white wire attached as a ground, and then put your fuse into the fuse holder and then you'd be ready to plug your four way into your trailer to get lights on your trailer. It does include this tail light converter right here. And this is to ensure that your vehicle's wiring will match that of your trailer.
This converter is instructing using SMT technology, which is surface mouth technology, gives you a consistent reliable performance. It'll maximize your trailer light yield and intensity while producing minimal heat. It'll also give you superior operation in any rough, rouge conditions. Another nice thing is that is it does come with this dust cap for the four way, so when you're not plugged into your trailer you can just attach your dust cap to the plug, and then just go ahead and put your cap over when you're not plugged in and that cap will protect the terminals from any damage from the elements themselves. Few specs on this. The maximum amperage for the stop and turn light circuits is 3 amps per circuit. And the max on the tail light circuit is 6 amps total. It does come with everything shown here, it has a nice set of detailed instructions that instruct you how to install it and even gives you pictures of where your connections are. But basically when you go to install this, what you'll want to do is go to the rear cargo area, and you access the connection point that this will match up to. Go ahead and plug this in.
Once that's plugged in you have your white wire with the eyelid on it. Take your included ground screw, and go ahead and drill a hole. And go ahead and ground that wire. And then they include the 10 AM fuse, so what you'll do is open up your in line fuse holder, go ahead and put your fuse in there, and then go ahead and put the cap back on there. Now they do also include some double sided tape that you can use to attach your converter down. You want to make sure your converter doesn't bounce around. So you can use the tape.
They also give you some larger cable ties that you can tie it down with also, and then some smaller cable ties to take up any length of wire that may be hanging down. But that should do it for the review on part number C55560. This is the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness, with the four way flat trailer connector.

The Curt Connector was a breeze to install the only down side was the double sided tape that was included for the install was so old it was no longer sticky.
The Class 3 Trailer hitch fits perfectly. The wiring kit was exactly what I needed and simply to install. That is, IF I knew the correct year of my Equinox. (The hitch was still a perfect fit) An '05 vs an '08 is a total different wire assembly connection & simpler! So I called Customer Service to arrange a hand-to-hand exchange, since they're local for me. NO BIG DEAL! Steve handled the arrangement with ease, recommending the best choice out of three to choose from. Now it is just a matter of getting this project finished. THANK YOU! Easy to connect, easy to mount and works as expected. Haven't used the light much as most often using hitch for bike rack vs trailer but held up well after a year.
Hello George. The wiring installed fairly quickly. I decided to route it inside the Equinox so it took more time than usual but I'm very happy with. Just brought it to a friend this weekend and it still works flawlessly. Actually, y thought they had a wiring harness but turns out they did not. They looked one up on etrailer and will be purchasing it soon.

I needed a 6 wire square harness for my camper that would hook up to my 2006 Torrent. The harness plugged right in like the description and video showed. Attach the ground wire to ground stud on vehicle with 10mm socket and 12” extension. Really simple.
