Installing a 7-Way Trailer Connector on a 2012 Kia Sedona
Question:
I have to install wiring for a 7 pin camper plug on my 2012 Kia Sedona. There is no trailer wiring at this time. I have a Prodigy brake controller that also has to be installed. It appears that I need to first install the plug in wiring for a four pin trailer wiring harness first and then convert to the universal wiring for the 7 pin system. Is this correct or is there a specific wiring package to go directly to the 7 pin system? I will be doing the work myself. I have purchased several trailer hitches and wiring systems from Etrailer over the years and am always impressed with your company. Please keep up the good work. Thank you

You are definitely on the right track. You will first want to install a wiring harness with a 4-way flat connector like the Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, # 118410, that you referenced. You could simply run lengths of wires from a vehicle side 7-way socket and wire the socket yourself, but that would involve splicing into your vehicles tail light wiring, which I would not recommend. That route would also be very time consuming and tedious.
Instead, after you install the plug-in style T-One harness, you can use our Universal 4-Way and 7-Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7. This comes with a 4-way and 7-way adapter and all of the necessary hardware and wires you need to complete the installation with your Prodigy brake controller.
I have attached installation videos of the T-One harness and the ETBC7 kit on a Kia Sedona for you to check out. The video of the ETBC7 kit also shows how to make the connections for a brake controller. The brake controller in the video is different from the Prodigy, but the installation procedure will be the same for your Prodigy.
I have attached a few help articles on wiring and brake controller installations. If you have any questions during the installation process, feel free to ask me any question you have.
