Brake Controller and Wiring Needed for 1999 Ford F-150

Question:

1999 Ford F150 XLT Supercab. Previously had a 7 pin installed, after that a 4 pin. Currently lots of wires left hanging in cab brake controller and at rear driver underneath. I need a 7 pin installed, but I am a little confused over the wiring. There is a large gray plug which goes into a set of two plugs together just by the spare. Is this the tow cable attachment point? I need the 7 pin, brackets, a brake controller but the connectors are gone and there are only bare wires. I dont know if anything is hooked at the battery but I doubt it. I dont remember any breakers either. So I need that plus I would like to install a 3rd brake light on my camper top as well at the same time. Can this be done? Would you need pics?

Thank you for all of the details!

From everything you've said it sounds like you just need the Replacement OEM Wiring Kit # 118242 for a 7-Way but then you can upgrade it to a 4-Way/7-Way secured at the back of your 1999 Ford F-150 with the Hopkins Wiring # 30955 and No-Drill Mount Bracket # 18136. The OEM wiring kit will tee into those square plugs you found under the driver's side of your pickup.

Then to add a brake controller I recommend using the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885 and Wiring Adapter # 3035-P. The P2 is a great controller because it's really reliable and easy to use. The wiring adapter simply connects to a plug under the driver's side dash of your truck.

Attached is an installation video of the wiring kit and brake controller for you to check out. We also have a helpful article that walks you through all of this that I've linked for you to reference as well.
