Recommended Parts for Flat Towing a 1986 Suzuki Samurai

Question:

I just picked up a completely stock 1986 hard top Tin Top Suzuki Samurai... It has never been set up to tow, but I got it to flat tow behind my new to me motor home Class A 2012 Fleetwood Terra 31TS... The car weighs 2200#s, so its pretty light. What parts will I need to accomplish this? I want to do this safely, but simply Installation and future connection and disconnection.. Maybe just the magnetic stick on lights like the tow trucks use... Thoughts? Thanks for any help

We definitely have the parts needed to flat tow your 1986 Suzuki Samurai. I'll recommend parts that are simple to install and can easily be transferred to a future vehicle if the need arises. For a complete flat towing setup you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter.

Here are the parts I recommend using:

Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - # BX3501
etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Blue Ox Base Plates - # e47ZR (includes safety cables)
Heavy Duty Magnetic Tow Lights - # TL21RK (with common 4-Way connector)
Brake Buddy Classic 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System - # HM39494
High-Low Adapter - See Attached Article (Blue Ox bracket height is 13")

I'd also be sure to check your owner's manual for any specific instructions on prepping your vehicle for flat towing. All of these parts aside from the base plate kit can be transferred to a future vehicle.
