Are Support Brackets for 16' Awning Larger Than a 15.5' Awning

Question:

I had asked a question below and was answered by John G. I should have been more specific. Would like to replace a damaged Dometic 15.5’ awning with a Lippert 16’ XL. I only have an additional 7” to spare from one end end of RV to to the other see pictures. The Dometic rails were 2.5” wide. If the Lippert are the same then I am ok. Let me know what you think…

From the center line to center line of the brackets for the Solera 12V XL Power RV Awning - 16' Wide - Extra-Long 9'8" Projection - White Fade # LCV000334965-362241 it measures 16' as you can see in the attached photo. When I reached out to my contact at Lippert about the width of the brackets they didn't have those specs readily available but they said that the width of these brackets is the same as what you currently have so you can use your current dimensions as a guide.

In regards to the top of the brackets, these will be the same locations as your current setup as well unless you plan on installing a new awning rail a little higher up. In that case you need the part # LC715216 as well and since this is a pitched awning you need to position the rail are least 6" above any windows or doors. I'm not sure how that relates to your drip rail but this at least gives you a way to find that out.

Attached is a review video for you to check out.

Thank you for the photos! It looks like the mounting brackets for your 15.5' awning measure 2" wide. This means that the larger 16' awning will take up an additional 6" on center but then we have 1" of the bracket on both ends of the awning to account for so we're really looking at 16'2" for overall length. So to add an XL Solera Power Awning you need to use the15' Wide # LCV000334950-362243 awning instead. This will be slightly less wide than what you have right now but it gives you that extra projection that comes with the XL awning series.
