Recommended Class I Bike Rack for Heavy E-Bikes
Question:
HI, I bought this hitch receiver last year Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4, but just upgraded to an Ebike. I see that this bike rack Item SA4025F will work with a class 1 receiver. My question is, is the Draw Tite receiver strong enough or well suited for this particular bike rack? The ebike is 55 pounds and my vehicle is a 2017 Kia Soul Thanks! You guys always have great customer service and I appreciate your time

Thank you and welcome back! Yes, I can confirm that the Saris SuperClamp EX Bike Rack item # SA4025F and your hitch have enough capacity to carry your 55 lbs E-Bike. The Saris has a 60 lbs capacity per bike and does fit a class 1 hitch along with a class II and III if you would like to use it on different vehicles. This is a wheel mounted bike rack that fits tires up to 4-1/2" wide. It has integrated locks to secure both your bike rack and bikes from theft.
The Draw-Tite Hitch item # 24915 has a 200 lbs tongue weight capacity. It looks like your 2017 Soul has a 300 lbs capacity. So you will not have to worry about exceeding your hitch of Soul's capacity.
It is recommended to remove the battery when transporting your bike for safety purposes. This will also help you with the weight.
If your tires are wider than 4-1/2" you will need the Fat Tire Adapter Kit for Saris Freedom Bike Racks item # SA4419.
I have linked a review video below.
