Recommended Flat Towing Components For A 2003 Jeep Liberty

Question:

Have a 2003 Jeep Liberty 4x4 w/o Brush guard. Looking to flat tow behind a Sprinter Class C motorhome with 5,000 lb hitch. Vehicle weighs 4000 lbs. There are many choices, and I see a couple of recommendations on your website.. #1 for me is a quick and easy hook-up/disconnect of the vehicle to the motorhome. #2 is light weight. This will be a DIY installation so base plate should be easy Blue Ox BX1119 in Video seems pretty straight forward. Many combos/choices. Would like to talk to someone. Thanks.

To flat tow your 2003 Jeep Liberty 4x4 you'll need a baseplate, tow bar, tow bar wiring kit, braking system, and safety cables. I have the following recommendations for you below:

Baseplate: The Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1119 are a confirmed fit and since you feel confident installing these yourself you can definitely go with them.

Tow Bar: To connect to your Blue Ox baseplate the etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar # e47ZR. This tow bar comes with safety cables so you won't have to purchase them separately.

Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This diode wiring will transfer your motorhome's braking and turn signals through your Liberty's tail lights.

Braking System: Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System # HM39524. This system does require setup each time but is a lot less invasive than fixed systems so it'll be much easier to install. The remote allows you to easily see when the brakes are activated and will also allow you to adjust the brake settings on the go. The included charge line kit will also help keep your vehicle charged while you tow.
