No Power on 7-Way Trailer Brake Circuit on a 2009 Ford F-250
Question:
I have a 2009 Ford F250. The 7 pin connector which was factory installed is having problems. The trailer brakes will not activate when the brakes are applied. All other functions with the trailer work. I tested the connector on the Ford with a multi meter. The turn signals and other functions put out 13-15 volts while the truck was on, but the electric brakes only registered 0.25 volts. Any ideas on what it could be?

This may seem like a silly question but are you using a brake controller? A 7-Way alone will not provide power to the trailer brakes without the use of a brake controller. If you do need a brake controller then I recommend the Tekonsha P2, # 90885, and wiring harness # 3034-P to plug into the factory port on your truck.
The P2 is a popular controller because it is easy to set up, easy to use, and is reliable. I have included a link to the installation details for you to view for the wiring harness and controller.
If you are using a factory integrated brake controller then make sure to turn up the power and check to see if that helps. The connector should show voltage with the manual override. If it is still not working then check the CHMSL or stop light fuses to see if the brake controller is getting the signal from the brake pedal.
If the brake controller is not powering on then check the fuses for it. Use the owners manual and/or power distribution box lid to determine fuse locations. I have included a link to our FAQ article on troubleshooting brake controllers for you.
