Is A Wedge Kit Needed When Using The Curt A16 With Slider Base
Question:
Does your A16 Slider Hitch require the adapter to be placed on the 5th wheel Trailer tounge that slides into the A16 hitch?

I believe you're talking about using a Sidewinder wedge kit like # C16992, which you would not want to use with the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R16 Slider # C16521. The purpose of the wedge is to lock the king pin of the 5th wheel's pin box in place when using a rotating pin box. This moves the pivoting point back to give you more turning clearance.
With a sliding hitch you can't use a rotating pin box like the Sidewinder and would need to use the lockout bolts in the back of the pin box to prevent it from pivoting at the pin box and instead pivot in the jaws of the hitch. The slider base will pull back to give you additional turning clearance, but can not be used with a rotating pin box.
