Best Option to Upgrade the 5th Wheel Hitch Head on the Curt R16 Round Tube Slider
Question:
Hello. I currently have the Curt R16 roller and Curt E16 5th wheel head with aftermarket rail system. I want to upgrade the head because of the bucking and jerking when starting stopping. Mounted on 2011 F250 SD Diesel short bed.I was reading about the 2 jaw system that is better. I see a 2 jaw but was wondering if the single jaw was better.

It sounds like you currently have the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R16 Roller # 16516 in your 2011 Ford F-250 and are wanting to upgrade the head unit to provide a more secure connection with less rattle.
The best option that we have, that is compatible with the R16 roller system you already have is the Replacement Head Unit for Curt A16 and Q16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # C16520 which will have the same 16k capacity as your E16. But the Curt A16 and Q16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # C16520 features an interlocking 2-jaw system that provides 360-degree jaw-to-king-pin contact. This is going to be more secure and produce less rattle than the slide bar style of your E16.
