How Long Of A Hitch Extender Will I Need For Kuat Transfer V2 On A 2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
Question:
How much hitch would I need when using the Kuat transfer 2 on a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon in order to be able to tilt the rack down with bikes off and get the rear swing gate open? Would 6 inches be enough?

Due to the spare tire on your 2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, you will need a hitch extender for the distance between the face of your trailer hitch and the edge of the spare tire. If it is a stock spare, you are looking at about 8" of distance. This will allow you to raise and secure the rack when you are not carrying bikes. The Curt Hitch Extender for 2" Hitch Receivers - 8" Long, part # C45791, is the perfect length. However, adding a hitch extender will reduce the maximum tongue weight of your trailer hitch by 50%. Please keep in mind, if you have a larger tire than the stock tire, you will have to measure your tire from the bumper to the edge of the tire. You would use this measurement to choose a hitch extender.
You could open the swing gate of your vehicle, if the rack was tilted downward, with the 6" extension. But you would not be able to lock your Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount, part # KU84FR, in the upright position.
I have included a product description link, video review links, and a weblink to our hitch extenders below.
