Why Are My Trailer Tires Locking Up In Reverse?
Question:
I have a trailer tire that’s locking up in reverse. My truck has a 7 pin factory on it, the boat is a 5 pin, so I’m using an adapter to go from 7 to 5. Could this be causing a lock up?

Yes that very well may be causing your trailer to act funky. Usually when this occurs it has to do with solenoid on the reverse lockout not getting voltage.
Sometimes this can be attributed from a corroded connector or your wiring has become damaged.
I recommend inspecting your connectors, and ensure that there is no corrosion or damage to the connector. If there is damage, you can replace the adapter with # A10-7275VP.
Additionally, if you need a new 7-way connector we do sell a variety of direct OEM replacements such as # 42145. If you're needing something like this, let me know what your tow vehicle is, and I'd be happy to help.
I've also attached a FAQ about trailer wiring that may help you while troubleshooting.
