Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch With Sway For a 7,000LB GVWR Trailer And 524LB Tongue Weight

Question:

I am interested in the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution Hitch. The model I am looking at is the 10,000 lb GTW, 1000 tongue weight. My trailer has a GTW of 7000 lb with a tongue weight on 524 lbs. The next size down on this hitch only supports 6000 GTW. Will the 1000 lb TW model work for my trailer or should I consider another model?

I recommend the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System # RP66083 with your tongue weight of 524lbs and GTW of 7,000lbs. This hitch is rated for a trailer up to 8,000lbs and a tongue weight of 400-800lbs. You will need a 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # 19286 or 2" Hitch Ball # A-90 to match your coupler and a 1-7/8" 12pt Thin Walled Socket # ALL643216 to install the ball.

With the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution # BLU66FR being rated for 750-1,000lbs of tongue weight I am concerned that there is not enough tongue weight with your trailer. If the weight you sent is the dry trailer weight I do recommend checking the loaded tongue weight to determine if there is enough weight to get you in the correct range.
