Recommended 3,500 Pound Axle With Electric Brakes For A 1971 Merhow Horse Trailer With 8-147 Drums

Hi, I have a 1971 merhow horse trailer with a dextar axle with electric drum brakes, I trying to find the complete electric brake kit that comes with everything, it says on the drum dextar 8-147, it also has 4 bolt style for wheel lugs. Thanks for your time.

The 8-147 hubs you have on your 1971 Merhow Horse Trailer are not directly compatible with any axle that we currently carry. The 8-147 are agricultural hubs, they are very close to fitting but will not work with any of our new axle spindles. The next best thing to do would be to purchase a new trailer axle that includes the hubs, and electric brakes. Agricultural brakes are very scarce and difficult to find, none of partners sell them.

For Example The Dexter Trailer Axle w/ Electric Brakes - E-Z Lube - 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern - 95 inch - 3,500 pounds # 7359765-EB has a hub face to hub face of 95 inches with a spring center to spring center being 80 inches.

If you could measure your hub face to hub face and also measure your spring center to spring center, I would be able to tell you the exact one you would need.
