Is the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit a Viable Option for Traveling in the Mountains
Question:
My rig came with Reese WDH without sway control. The hitch has the small ball already mounted but the frame does not. I have not gone any distance yet so can’t report any issues but we are getting ready to take our first trip to the mountains. I have read many articles only to be more confused Do these help or not? Is it a worthwhile endeavor? Do I chuck the whole thing and buy a new WDH with integrated sway control? Do I say heck with it and take off on our first long trip and see how it goes?

Yes, the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit # 83660 does help and is a worthwhile endeavor. The Reese Friction Sway Control Kit # 83660 reduces trailer sway caused by winds, curving roads (like you'd find in the mountains) or sudden maneuvers.
Your hitch is already set up to use the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit # 83660 and the control kit will include the bracket needed for the frame of your trailer, so it will be a pretty straight forward option for you to gain that extra stability.
