Replacement Hydraulic Brakes For 7,000 lb Dexter Axle
Question:
Need to replace the brakes on the right side of a Dexter 7,000 lb axle. It is air over hydraulic, has an air chamber pushing on the master cylinder in the trailer. Does it have to be the free-backing or will any 12x2 brakes work. Picture is from the other axle.

Expert Reply:
They do not have to be free-backing but you can replace the hydraulic brakes on your 7k axle with the Hydraulic Brake Kit - Uni-Servo - Free Backing - 12" - Left/Right Hand Assemblies - 5.5K to 7K # AKFBBRK-7.
You will also need the Mounting Bolts and Hardware for 12" Brake Assemblies # BRKH12.
