Roof Rack Recommendation for Hullavator Pro on 2022 Chevy Bolt EV with Flush Rails

Question:

I have a 2022 Chevy Bolt EV with the flush rails across the top of my car. I want to do two Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carrier and Lift Assist with Tie-Downs - Side Loading. 1. I need to know which crossbars I would need to fit the two units on the roof. 2. I need the weight of the units to make sure that I can fit two 45 ibs kayaks on the roof without an issue. I read the roof weight capacity is 165 ibs.

The Thule Hullavator Pro # TH898 takes up 28-1/2" of crossbar space so you need crossbars at least 57" long so we need to go with a Yakima roof rack so we can upgrade to longer bars. For your 2022 Chevy Bolt EV I recommend using the JetStream crossbars so you'll need the following parts:

60" JetStream Crossbars - # Y00426
SkyLine Towers - # Y53TR
Landing Pad 19 - # Y00245
Lock Core Kit - # Y07204 (optional)

This does have a 165 lb weight rating and the Hullavator Pro weighs in at 39.7 lbs so 2 of these and 2 kayaks weighing in at 45 lbs puts you at 169.4 lbs. If there's any way to cut out a few pounds from each kayak to keep from going over the weight capacity I recommend doing so.

If you are unable to get under that 165 lb capacity I recommend using the Malone DownLoader Kayak Carrier and TelosXL Load Assist w/ Tie-Downs # MPG114MD-351XL and then another DownLoader Set # MPG114MD for your 2nd kayak. These only weigh in at 12.2 lbs so you won't even come close to making out the roof rack weight rating.

Attached are some videos for you to check out.
