Cargo Carrier, Cargo Bag, and Net Recommendation for a 1-1/4 Hitch on a 2014 Subaru Forester

Question:

Im looking to buy a package including a flat hitch cargo carrier 20-47, a matching cargo carrier bag, and a cargo net. In searching your products , I found the Curt Cargo Carrier C18110 and the Maxxtow 47 x 20 carrier bag MT70209, and a cargo net 43 x 24 code C18202. So, are these the proper ones to fit my 2014 Subaru Forrester with a 1 1/4 inch hitch? Last year you had a carrier made with aluminum which might be nice to handle esp. since Im 84 years old. What's your advice?

While we do have a great lightweight cargo carrier that fits your 1-1/4" hitch on your 2014 Subaru Forester, the only aluminum ones we carry are designed only to fit 2" hitch receivers. The manufacturers unfortunately discontinued production of our aluminum carriers that fit 1-1/4" hitches.

With that being said, the 19x47 Curt Cargo Carrier # C18110 is the second-lightest carrier we currently carry that fits a 1-1/4" hitch. This weighs 30 pounds. The first lightest we carry is the slightly lighter 29-pound 17x46 Curt Cargo Carrier # C18145. However, I recommend going with the # C18110 because it is a larger dimensions and includes a mesh platform to easily store smaller items on the carrier without the worry of slipping through any gaps.

As far as the cargo bag, the etrailer Cargo Bag # e98990 is a great option for the # C18110. For a great cargo net to use with the bag, I recommend using the Curt Net - 38" Wide x 44" Long # C18200 instead of the Curt Net - 43" x 24" # C18202. The extra width and height of the # C18200 makes up if you plan to use the net with the cargo bag on the carrier. Also, since the net is stretchable, you will get a nice, tight fit.

Since the measurement of the center of the pinhole to the closest edge of the # C18110 is 11-1/8", you won't have any bumper clearance issues when attached to your hitch.
