Wiring and Other Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 1987 Jeep Wrangler
Question:
I am planning to flat tow my 87 wrangler behind my rv and am trying to find the correct wiring harness so I have brake, turn, tail. Do you have a plug and play harness for the 87? A splice kit would be acceptable also. Thanks

I do have an option for you , but there is not a plug and play option. The Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 fits all models of the 1987 Jeep Wrangler and allows you to use your Jeep Wrangler's tail lights and wiring system while preventing feedback from your RV.
Just to make sure you have everything accounted for to flat tow your 1987 Jeep Wrangler, I have included a list of other needed parts so you can be sure you have what you need.
Base Plate Kit: Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1137. Custom fit for your Wrangler and provides attachment point for the tow bar.
Tow Bar: Blue Ox Alpha 2 Non-Binding Tow Bar # BX7380. Works with the above base plate kit and includes safety cables which are another required item for flat towing.
Supplemental braking system: Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251. Provides automatic, proportional braking with a system that never has to be removed, replaced, or reset.
You will want to check your owners manual to ensure you have anything else they may require. You may also need a high low adapter to ensure your flat tow set up is level. I have included a help article that goes over that, as well as a link to our high low adapter selection.
