Replacement Options for a Sealed Trailer Light with a Bad Bulb

Question:

How to I replace the bulbs in the tail light assembly - Peterson 440-15. I see no screws or screw holes in the front or on the back of the assemble. Do I need to buy a complete new assemble? This is for a boat trail and the trail go in the water. So assembly needs to be water tight. The right turn light is out but all other lights in the assembly work fine. Thanks for the help.

The Peterson 440 series trailer lights typically have 4 screws at each of the corners of the lens that allow you to remove the lens and replace the bulb. It may be possible that you have a sealed version of these lights, in which case the bulb is likely not replaceable without breaking the seal between the lens and the light housing.

You will likely be better off replacing the tail lights. For a submersible light with a replaceable bulb and lens that is similar to the Peterson 440 series light, I recommend looking at the Optronics Submersible Trailer Light - Right Hand, # ST6RB. You do not have to replace both light assemblies if you do not want to, but these lights are fairly economical, so replacing both sides may be a good idea if you want a uniform look on the trailer. The left hand light is part # ST7RB.
