Ground Wire Location on Trailer For Pollak 6-Pole Connector
Question:
Can a red become white. no white wire

Since different manufacturers can use different color wires you need to test the wires by function and not by color. If there is no white wire present, you can trace the wiring on your trailer to find out where the wires terminate.
The wire that is attached to the trailer frame is the ground and should be attached to the 10 o'clock position of the Pollak 6-Pole, Round Pin, Trailer Wiring Connector, part # PK11604. When looking at the connector from the back, the ground would be in the 2 o'clock position. I have attached a drawing that shows the wiring for the 6-pole connector.
I have attached an FAQ article on trailer wiring.
