Troubleshooting a 6-Way Trailer Connector Install
Question:
Hello there, I have A kaufman 53foot Wedge Trailer and I changed the pig tail but the wires are not looking like the diagrams Ive seen. the two black wires, I thicker than the other is confusion me and when I hooked it up I had lights but no brakes.

By looking at the picture you sent me it looks like the yellow wire is the left turn, the green is the right turn, the brown is tail lights and the white is the ground. Which leaves us with the two black wires.
There are a couple options for determining what the black wires are for. You could get a 12 volt battery like a car battery and run a jumper wire from there to black wires to see what functions on the trailer activate. Or, you could trace the wires back to see where they terminate.
One of the wires should be a 12 volt accessory possibly run to a battery and the other should be brake output circuit. Chances are the thicker wire is the 12 volt accessory wire run to the battery.
