Which Nev-R-Adjust Brake Assemblies for Load Trail 14K Dump Trailer  

Question:

Was going to invest in your Dexter never adjust brakes, I back my dump trailer up a lot will they adjust to tight or stop at a certain point. It is Load Trail 14000lb dump trailer think its 2009, not sure what part number I would need when ordering and not sure if you would know what axles came stock on this trailer or not.

To determine which brake assemblies would be needed, you will need to measure your existing brake drums as shown in the provided photo. Since your trailer has a 14,000 lb capacity, you most likely have tandem 7,000 lb axles, which typically use a 12x2 inch brake assembly like # AKEBRK-7L-SA for the left hand and # AKEBRK-7R-SA for the right hand assembly.

You would also need to ensure that the brake assembly you choose has a bolt pattern that matches the brake mounting flange on your axle. A 7K axle typically would have a 5-bolt pattern on the brake flange.

These self adjusting brakes will continue to adjust as you drive until the brake pads need replacing, at which time you might find that simply replacing the entire brake assembly might be just as or nearly as cost effective as replacing the brake shoes.
