Compatibility of Gen-Y Glyder Shock Absorbing Ball Mount With Surge Brakes and Lower Tongue Weight

Question:

I have two questions regarding the glyder. First, I do understand it is ideal for 400-700lb tongue weight. Is it still ok to use with lighter weights iin the 250-300 lb range? How about an empty trailer. Second, are there any compatibility issues with the glyder and surge brakes?

There will be no issues with using surge brakes along with the Gen-Y Glyder Shock Absorbing Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 6" Drop - 7K # 325-GH-12005. Also, the Glyder can be used with a lower tongue weight and an empty trailer. The only problem is you need to be at the 4-700 lb range in order to benefit from the built-in shock absorption. If your loaded tongue weight is going to be 250-300 lbs then I would not recommend using this ball mount.

Instead, I would recommend the Curt RockerBall Anti-Rattle Towing Kit. We have the # C63KR with a 2" rise and 3" drop or the # C43KR with a 4" rise and 5" drop available. Either of these will work with your lower tongue weight and are a great option. The Curt ball mount uses ShockDrop technology, which is engineered to suppress vibrations and rattling while you're towing. When you hit a bump, the ball compresses around the flexible, polyurethane core.

I have attached a review video for your reference.
