Troubleshooting Check Engine Light of Vehicle When Installing Brake Controller
Question:
Ive mounted my brake controller the hitch and the 7way plug. I tapped into the wires at the left rear tail light with the 4way wiring. Ran a 12v black and blue brake wire to the back. However now my check engine light is on and the dash says Trac off?

I'd try disconnecting the wiring and first see if that causes the light to turn off. It's possible it's not related, but if it is that would indicate it's most likely due to the connection of the red wire of your brake controller to the stoplight switch. The red wire needs to be connected to the wire on your stoplight switch that only has 12 volts when the brakes are applied.
