Will An Aftermarket Brake Controller Throw Code If A OEM Brake Controller Is Currently Installed?

I have a 2015 2500 Chevy Silverado with factory trailer brakes. I am getting a service trailer brake message. My question is if I install an aftermarket trailer brake controller using an adaptor that plugs into my truck will I still get the trouble code? If so how can I install without getting trouble message?

You can install a brake controller like the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller # TK90160 and the plug in adapter # 3016 on your 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, however it will still throw a code stating that the integrated brake controller isn't detected anymore.

You can clear this code by taking your truck to a dealership and have them reset your computer and remove the integrated brake controller, which will clear the code.
