Electric Trailer Jack Recommendation for a 2008 Starcraft 34RT
Question:
Would you go with this one or is it over kill. Its between this one and the 3000lbs jack. Keep in mind I also will have 3 dirt bikes 600 lbs and gear loaded into the front cargo area.

When choosing a jack for your trailer, you will want to keep in mind that the jack only needs to lift the tongue of the trailer. It will not need to support the weight of the entire trailer. After doing some research on your 2008 Starcraft 34RT, it looks like your tongue weight is around 350 lbs dry. Based on the information I found, plus the additional weight of your dirt bikes and gear, the 5,000 lb weight capacity of the Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jack - Drop Leg - A-Frame - 23" Lift - 5,000 lbs - Black, Item # JET-5000, should be more than enough for your trailer. Getting a jack with a higher capacity than you actually need is actually a great idea. It causes the jack to work faster and last longer.
I strongly recommend verifying the tongue weight of your trailer when it is loaded and ready to tow before purchasing a jack. I have attached an FAQ article on how to determine your trailer tongue weight for you to check out. Again, verifying your trailers tongue weight is always the best way to verify what you will need.
