Hi, I have A 4wd Toyota Tundra with the 5.7 liter and tow package. I am towing a 16x7.5 EZ hauler trailer that is 9 feet tall. The trailer curb weight is 1580 lbs. with a GVWR of 7000lbs. Most of the time my cargo weight is between 1000 lbs. to 2000 lbs. however at times it will be around 4500lbs. My question is what weight distribution hitch with sway control and the ability to back up would be the best option with such a varied payload / tongue weight? Keeping cost in mind.

For that wide of a swing with weight I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control item # FA92-00-0800 for your 2008 Toyota Tundra. This trunnion system has a 400 lbs - 800 lbs tongue weight capacity and a max capacity of 8,000 lbs. You will want to pay more attention to your tongue weight when considering a weight distribution system. Since you are hauling such a wide range of cargo that is why I selected this system over the Curt TruTrac Item # C69JR you were looking at. Its range was too high and would cause you to have an extremely stiff and uncomfortable ride when you weren't hauling your heaviest loads. This is one of our least expensive options considering the wide range of tongue weight that had to be accounted for. Most systems would require the purchase of an extra set of spring bars.

The Fastway e2 system item # FA92-00-0800 does not include a hitch ball. I recommend the Draw-Tite item # 19286 if you need a 2-5/16" ball or the Item # EQ91-00-6080 if you need a 2" ball.

If you don't already have one you will need a 1-7/8" thin walled socket to attach the ball to your weight distribution system. Here is a 3/4" Drive steel socket item # ALL643216.
