Preventing Sway On A 2015 BMW X5 Towing A Travel Trailer Without Weight Distribution
Question:
We are considering buying a Lance 2075 travel trailer and use our 2015 BMW X5 35d to tow it. We need to add a hitch to the vehicle, and we are looking at the Stealth Hitch with active harness in order to communicate with the vehicle. However, our experience in towing a travel trailer has led us to believe that a weight distribution hitch we have owned a Hensley arrow but contemplating a Pro Pride in this instance. Both BMW and Stealth say WD hitches are prohibited on the X5. This raises a very significant concern about towing this trailer just on a 2inch ball with zero weight distribution and how that will perform in windy conditions or an 18-wheeler blowing by at 80 mph. We want to be safe, have a great tow experience with little stress. and not violate BMW and Stealth policy on WD hitches. Of course, the Pro Pride team says it is no issue, but we are trying to find honest 3rd party guidance in this decision as the internet is full of conflicting information. Best regards,

I completely understand. You want to tow safely, without having to worry about your trailer swaying. We do have an option that will work for you.
You can go with an electronic sway control system. This would be my recommendation. When your trailer begins to sway, the Tuson # 335TSC-1000, activates your trailer's brakes to counteract the sway. Another benefit of the electronic system is you will not lose the option of going in reverse while hooked up to your travel trailer. If you had a traditional sway bar that operates via friction, you would not be able to back up while the anti-sway was on your travel trailer.
I have included a product description link, a video of the Stealth Hitch being installed on a 2015 BMW X5, and a video demo link below.
