Where Can The Excel RV Tankless Water Heater Be Mounted During Installation

Question:

Can this be mounted on the outside wall of my RV and piped into the existing water supply? Basically, remove old 6 gallon water heater and hang this over the hole, plumb in the gas and water using existing lines? Also, how is it ventless? Where does the combustion gas from the propane go?

Per the manufacturer, Excel, the Excel RV Tankless On-Demand Water Heater # EX93FR has to be installed upright with the vent facing upwards. Other than that the only other installation restriction is to not install it in a bathroom or bedroom so you can install it wherever you have the space for it. Just to be clear if you're saying you want to mount this outside of the RV I would not recommend it. It has metal components that would not be protected from the elements and could greatly reduce the lifespan of the unit.

This water heater is vent free because it is outfitted with an ODS (Oxygen Depletion Safety shutoff device) system that will shut off power to the unit to maintain proper oxygen levels in your RV. This is why the manual states not to install it in the bathroom or bedroom.
