Can The 2022 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Be Flat Towed

Question:

I just got a new 2022 Chevy Colorado and was wanting to pull it behind my Thor Hurricane 34R motorhome. Am I able to dinghy tow this model and if so what parts do I need?

If your 2022 Chevy Colorado ZR2 is four-wheel-drive with a N (Neutral) and a Four-Wheel Drive Low setting then it can be flat towed. To flat tow your Colorado you'll need a tow bar, base plate, tow bar wiring kit, braking system, and safety cables. If you don't already have this equipment then I have the following recommendations for you below:

Tow Bar: Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar - 6,000lbs # RM-522. This tow bar features non-binding latches and a large hookup radius to make connecting/disconnecting on any terrain easy peasy.

Base Plate: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # RM37VR. This base plate has direct-connect attachment points, which make connecting/disconnecting from the tow bar quick and easy. The arms are removable to provide you with a nice clean look when not in use.

Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This diode kit allows you to use your Chevrolet Colorado's tail lights and wiring system while preventing feedback from your RV and will come with everything you need.

Per the owner's manual, you will need to disconnect the negative battery cable to flat tow your vehicle. To make this as easy as flipping a switch you can install the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch for Towed Vehicle w/ Supplemental Braking System # RM-766.

Braking System: Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # HM39524. This system offers intense, emergency braking or steady, smooth braking in a single portable system. Easily switch between proportional or full braking from the cab of your motorhome using the remote. The included charge line kit will keep your Colorado's battery charged while you tow.

Safety Cables: RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables - 6,000lbs # RM-643. The coiled design of these cables will help prevent them from dragging on the ground and being damaged.

You may also require a high/low adapter to keep your tow bar level between the motorhome and your Colorado. This will require some measuring on your part so I've attached our help guide article to help you determine the correct rise/drop needed for your application.
