Troubleshooting Trailer Running Lights Circuit Showing 8 Volts on 2015 Kia Sorento
Question:
Bought a hitch and 4 pin wiring harness with light controller from you 7/16/2020 for 2015 Kia Sorento. Now, with vehicle lights off the running light pin shows 8 volts. Ground and other wiring checks out okay. I am puzzled.

Sounds like a short on the trailer's running light circuit has damaged the converter box of the harness and now it would need to be replaced as it shouldn't ever have 8 volts on that circuit. If you have a 4 cylinder model you'd need the part # 118583 or part # HM11143965 which fits the V6 models.
You might check to make sure the trailer does not have any obvious shorts like cut or exposed wire and fix as needed.
