To flat tow your 2008 Jeep Liberty you'll need a tow bar, base plate, tow bar wiring harness, braking system, and safety cables. For an economical setup I have the following recommendations:
Tow Bar: Roadmaster StowMaster Tow Bar - Car Mount - 2" Ball - 6,000lbs # RM-501. This tow bar with 2" ball coupler has stainless steel, telescoping arms that automatically lock into place. Large hookup radius allows you to connect without perfectly lining up your vehicle. Quick-disconnects make it easy to attach to base plates.
You will most likely require a drop hitch to keep this tow bar level with between your motorhome and Jeep. I've attached our help guide article which will go over how to measure for the correct rise/drop needed and will have links to different ball mounts to give you the correct fit.
Base Plate: Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # 521433-1. These crossbar style base plates have removable arms for a clean look when not in use.
Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Instead of wiring in a diode kit you can install the Peterson Magnetic Tow Lights - Red - 4-Way Flat Connector - 20' Long Harness # PE26UR. This magnetic light kit will connect to your motorhome using a 4-pole flat connector and run to the back of your Jeep Liberty
Braking System: Brake Buddy Stealth Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # HM39530. This braking system offers fully proportional braking with a system that never has to be removed, replaced, or reset. The actuator installs out of sight and remains virtually invisible when your car isn't being towed. The controller also works as a trailer brake controller so you can tow a boat or utility trailer with your motorhome without having to purchase another controller. The included charge line kit will keep your Jeep's battery charged while you tow.
Since you'll be using a 4-pole flat for your lighting and your braking requires a 7-pole round connector you'll want to install the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole # 37185 if you don't already have a 4-pole flat and 7-pole round connector on your motorhome.
The negative battery cable of your Jeep will need to be removed from the post while flat towing the vehicle. If you want to make it as easy as flipping a switch you can install the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch for Towed Vehicle w/ Supplemental Braking System # RM-766.
Safety Cables: RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables - 6,000lbs # RM-643. The coiled design of these cables will help prevent them from dragging on the ground and being damaged.
