Front Mount Trailer Hitches for a 2013 Ford Explorer and 2013 Honda Pilot

Question:

Im thinking about buying a 2013 Ford Explorer, or a 2013 Honda Pilot, but need a front hitch to push my boat up a driveway not too steep, but not level and then into a 90 degree turn into a garage. With unibody construction, are the front hitches for either or both of those vehicles able to handle this? I currently drive a 1995 Dodge Dakota and have done this maneuver many times with that car and my boat.

Either vehicle can most likely handle pushing around the boat and trailer without any trouble unless the boat and trailer are really large and heavy. For either vehicle the front mount hitches are rated for 350 pounds vertical load (like tongue weight) and 9,000 pounds line pull. In terms of stress on the vehicle, whether the vehicle is pushing or pulling the load a lot of the stress are the same. So basically, check to see the towing capacities of the vehicles to make sure they can handle the weight.

For the 2013 Ford Explorer you would use front mount hitch # C31052. This hitch will fit all models of the 2013 Explorer EXCEPT EcoBoost models.

For the 2013 Honda Pilot the correct front mount hitch is # C31064. The lower fascia will have to be permanently removed to install this hitch. I have linked instructions for both hitches for you.
