Using a Hitch Extender for a Thule Helium Bike Rack to Clear the Spare Tire on a Hummer

Question:

I bought a Thule Helium 3 bike rack in 2009, and since then I have bought a new truck. I now have a hummer with a rear spare wheel and am looking for a hitch extension so that I can still use my Thule hitch bike rack. PLEASE any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We are going to have to use a hitch extender like # HE06. However, doing so will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent. So if your hitch currently has a tongue weight capacity of 500 pounds, using the extender will reduce that to 250 pounds. The combined weight of the bike rack and bikes cannot exceed the reduced capacity.

This extender will give you another 7 inches of extension. If that is not enough I have included a link to all of the 2 inch extensions that we offer.
