Recommended Hitch and Wiring Harness for a 2022 Kia Seltos
Question:
What parts will I need to be able to tow a small utility trailer with my 2022 Kia Seltos?

First you will need a Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver item # C65FR to attach to your 2022 Kia Seltos. This class I receiver has a 1-1/4" receiver tube and is capable of supporting up to 200lbs of tongue weight and 2,000lbs trailer capacity. Be sure not to exceed the towing capability of your Seltos given by Kia.
A Curt Wiring Harness item # C89KR will allow you to plug into your factory tail light wiring so that you do not need to splice into your tail light harness. You will need to run a wire to your battery in the engine compartment to provide power to the converter. This power wire allows your converter to not put additional strain on the vehicle harness to power the trailer tail lights.
When we installed the Curt Receiver on a 2021 Seltos we found the receiver to sit 13" from the ground to the inside top portion of the receiver. The hitch pin center hole sat at 8" from the rear bumper. These numbers are import for selecting the correct ball mount. As most trailer couplers sit around 16-18" tall I recommend the Curt Class I Drawbar item # C45023 with a 3-3/4" rise and a ball mount point that is 11-1/2" from the hitch pin center hole. You will also need either a 1-7/8" Ball item # A-80 or 2" Ball item # A-82.
