What Amount of Drop is Provided by Convert-A-Ball Cushioned Pintle Mount for 2-Inch Hitches # AMPC3
Question:
I would like to use the convert a ball hitch mount system. Currently I am using a 6inch mount on a 2inch ball in order to have my trailer level when hooked up to my stock 2012 ram 3500. I would like to use the pintle ball mount combo system with a convert a ball cushioned pintle mounting bar. I am just not sure if I would need a 8 hole bar or a 10 hole bar AM-PC-X or if neither would give me the I would need.

My contact at Convert-A-Ball advises that their 10-Hole Cushioned Pintle Mounting Bar for 2-inch hitches, part # AMPC3, will provide you with your required 6 inches of drop. Their 8-hole version, part # AMPC2, will provide only 4 to 5 inches of drop.
You can use the AMPC3 mounting bar with the Convert-A-Ball Pintle Hook Combo, part # PH1. This combo kit includes a pintle hitch and three interchangeable hitch balls, 1-7/8-inch, 2-inch and 2-5/16-inch. A set of 4 bolts, nuts and washers is included for attaching the pintle to the mounting bar.
Please note that the gross towing weight (GTW) ratings vary by ball size: the 1-7/8-inch ball has a capacity of 3500 lbs while the 2-inch and 2-5/16-inch balls have a capacity of 10,000 lbs. The pintle hitch has a tow rating of 25,000 lbs. Tongue weight is rated at 5,000 lbs for all.
If you need a hitch pin and clip to secure the pintle mount to your receiver you can use part # PC3, or if you prefer a locking hitch pin, part # e98882, which is all stainless steel and can be ordered in multiples that are keyed alike.
