I have a 2008 Chevy 2500 HD extended cab with suicide rear doors. Do you have to the gas tank to install this rail kit?

From what I'm seeing in my research, the installation of the Curt # C16418-204 on a 2008 Chevy Silverado 2500 will require lowering the gas tank on the models that have the 35 gallon gas tank in order to allow you to tighten the bolts on the front of the bracket; I've seen some people say they've been able to squeeze smaller hands in there to tighten the bolts without lowering it, but it's a case by case basis.

In this instance since all above bed rail kit brackets are going to attach to the same spots on the truck's frame, there's not a solution that would avoid this. With that said, Curt generally does a great job of putting a little thicker powder coating on their parts to help fight corrosion, so they're the best option for a base rail kit.

I've linked a review and installation video of this bracket kit on a similar Silverado you can use as a rough guide, since it does not show the gas tank being lowered on this particular vehicle.
