Troubleshooting Curt Spectrum Brake Controller # C51170 in a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD

Question:

I did not buy this part from you, but, you have a great wealth of information on all the things Ive researched so far. I do have a Power Watchdog Surge Protector from you. I installed a C51170 but received no calibration lights and it send a constant 12v to the braking pins. I wrote to Curt, who sent out a replacement directly. Ive installed the new one brain and knob to still receive no calibration lights, but, also no 12v to the braking pins. Have you come across this issue? Please feel free to ignore me if I am out of line here. Do you have any successful installs on this truck? What would be the best replacement for this unit of proven success? Thank you so much. Cheers.

We have not yet been able to install a Brake Controller # C51170 on a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The thing that I do not like to hear is when you replaced the controller your issues changed.

I would begin by checking the Curt Custom Wiring Adapter # C51525 for the ensure that it is receiving the correct power from your Silverado. You can use a Test Light # PTW2992 or Multimeter # PT29ZR to test the adapter wiring. With the ignition on you should have constant 12 volt power to the black wire and power on the red wire when you press the brake pedal. The white wire should have continuity to a 12 volt ground source. If you do not have power to these circuits then you may have a fuse or relay that is missing or needs replaced. There is also the possibility that the computer in your Silverado may need flashed from the manufacturer to allow power to these circuits.
