Recommended Transmission Coolers for 2012 Chevy Traverse Pulling 3700 lb Camper

Question:

We have a 2012 Traverse. We intend to pull a camper that weighs 3,024 lbs. empty. The cargo load fpr the camper is maxed out at 700 lbs., including water. Is the D13501 cooler big enough for the job? I am having a filter and gage installed too. We live in Colorado and will be in the mountains mostly. Thanks

Towing in mountainous areas can be hard on a transmission, so installing a cooler is an inexpensive way to provide protection. The most efficient place to install a transmission cooler is directly behind the grille, in front of the radiator and A/C condenser. We recommend measuring the available space in this area, and then choosing the largest transmission cooler that will fit.

The # D13501 is a great choice, but if you have the available space, I would go with the # D13502 which measures 11x7-1/4x7/8 of an inch or the larger # D13503 which is 11x8-3/4x7/8.

Using the # D13035 snap in radiator fitting is recommended for installation. I have linked you to an install video showing how the fitting is used.

I have also linked you to some FAQ articles about transmission coolers.
