What is the Correct Trailer Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Trailer Connector for 2001 Dodge Durango

Question:

I am trying to positively identify the harness that I need for my 2001 Dodge Durango before purchasing one that will not work. The trailer harness that I am connecting to is a flat 4-wire plug. My truck has zero wiring in the back for a harness. The previous owner must have removed the factory wires. Any help would be great. Thank you in advance.Kevin

For your 2001 Dodge Durango we offer a custom-fit wiring harness from Curt, part # C55334. Unlike universal-fit wiring kits that require cutting and splicing of wires, this plug-and-play harness from Curt simply plugs into the taillight wiring behind the two light assemblies on your Durango. I have included a link to the installation instructions for this harness.

This harness uses a converter to match the wiring of your Durango and trailer that employs surface mount technology (SMT) for reliable performance. The harness includes the 4-pole plug (with dust cap) for easy connection to your trailer. Please note that the maximum amperage rating for this converter is 3 amps per circuit for the stop/turn lights and 7.5 amps per circuit for the tail lights. You might want to check the rated amperage draw for your trailer to ensure its lights will not overload the converter module.

It is recommended that you apply a small amount of dielectric grease to all connectors at installation to prevent corrosion and maintain the integrity of the connections. You can use a product such as part # 11755. Please refer to the linked article for more information about this product and its application.
