Fuses Blowing Under Load With Venture Landing Gear Which Can be Hand Cranked

Question:

The guy at RVCARE ELITE named Gerald told me to contact you folks. My 2007 Montana 3400RL fifth wheel keeps blowing 30 AMP fuses when I try and raise the front end to hook RV up to my truck. Having to hand crank it every time now. Goes downward just fine! Have a name of VENTURE gear box I can see. 1. What do I need to do to confirm it is the motor first of all or something else? I have 4 new AGM 100 amp hour batteries and I am plugged into 30 am shore power when this happens. 2. What part do you have to replace it with?? Thanks

Generally when landing gear is blowing fuses under a load, like what is happening with you right now, the issue is too much of a load on the circuit. So while it could be the motor, since the is the priciest fix, I recommend first checking the wiring to make sure the connections are solid, that it has a good ground, and that the motor is getting the full 12 volts needed.

That said, if you can hand crank the landing gear and it works fine when doing that, the gearbox isn't the issue, it is the motor which needs replacing:
