When Replacing WFCO8955 RV Power Converter With PD4655V, Does DC Board Need to Be Swapped Out

Question:

Hi there ! I have a WFCO 8955-PEC which has gone down. After doing some research the PD4655 looks to be an upgrade to my current unit. My question is in regards to the DC Board. I see the new unit includes a new DC board, but what is the reason to replace it ? As the trailer is only 3 1/2 years old, I would not think that the DC board is bad. all DC items in the branch circuits work fine Do you need to replace the DC Board ?? And if so why ?? As always etrailer is excellent and look forward to a response. PS: My last purchase was a big upgrade going with a stainless steel replacement kitchen sink and it is wonderful....Thanks !

According to my contact at Progressive Dynamics, when installing the # PD4655V replacement converter it's not necessary to replace the DC board, as your current one is still working. However, it wouldn't be the worst idea in the world to go ahead an replace it just by virtue of the fact that it's a brand new part and it can be reasonably expected that it would have a longer lifespan than your current board.

You can always hang on to if for future use if necessary.
