Recommended Ladder Rack And Roof Rack For 2018 Toyota Tacoma With Tonneau Cover

Question:

I have a 2018 5’ bed Tacoma with a Rack-N-Roll bed cover and would like tad a ladder rack to haul kayaks. The bed cover configuration will make it challenging, so I am willing to drill as a result if that is necessary. The attached photos may help. Do you have a recommendation on which ladder rack would work the best? I may also consider adding a single rack at the back and a roof top system for the front as the kayaks are 17’. Thank you.

The Adarac Pro Series Custom Truck Bed Ladder Rack # A66ZR you were looking at, which also comes in Black # A76ZR, is the ladder rack you will want to go with. This is confirmed to fit your 2018 Toyota Tacoma 5' bed and it is compatible with tonneau covers that install inside the bed rails. Based on the photo you attached, it looks like your tonneau cover could possibly be covering up the stake pockets in which the ladder rack installs into. The only way to know would be to pop out the plastic covers which should be over the stake pockets; if the tonneau cover is not covering up the stake pockets then the ladder rack will fit well. But if the pockets are covered by the tonneau cover then you will not be able to install this ladder rack or any other ladder rack for that matter.

If your kayak is 17 feet long then you will definitely benefit from adding a roof rack. I would go with a simple and affordable setup such as Rhino-Rack system which uses # RRVA126B-2, # RRRLT600 and # RRQMFK08-2. This fits your Tacoma double cab with naked roof and it should have a very similar height to the ladder rack so that your kayak will fit nicely. I attached a demonstration video for you.
