Why is the Maximum Drop on the Curt Adjustable Weight Distribution Shank # C17100 2-1/2 Inches?
Question:
Why is maximum with curt round bar wt dist. hitch only 3 in?

Expert Reply:
The reason why the Curt Adjustable Weight Distribution Shank # C17100 lists the maximum drop at 3 inches is because the maximum measurement in the drop position from the inside top edge of the receiver tip of your hitch to the top of the ball of a compatible Curt round bar systems like the Curt MV Weight Distribution System w/ Friction Sway Control # C17063 is 3 inches. I went ahead and linked a video from the Curt # C17063 that talks about this maximum drop measurement in addition to the video review of the Curt shank # C17100.
If you need something with more of a drop, I recommend the Curt Weight Distribution Shank 13" Long # C17124. If you are using a similar round-style bar to the Curt MV # C17063, you will have a maximum drop of 10 inches.
